demo front

Yesterday it was my goal toto do the laundry, go to the bank, get some deck finish samples, change my address at the dmv, buy mulch and some other errands. Laundry was top of the list. Yuck I hate laundry. Especially when I have to go to the laundromat. I brought the foulest clothes to be washed, it was embarassing. I brought Bartlett's beds and blankies, which were so gross, especially after Gunnar was here for two weeks. There was so much fur flying aroungs.... Painting lattice was last on the list. Today, I removed the existing siding on the front of the house, big step.
Sorry, these posts aren't very interesting- but I am sooo tired and literally trying to stay awake right now.

New Deck and Stairs

Hi, here are the photos of Erik putting the finishing touches on the deck. The stairs. Which is a really good thing. Last week, we had Gunnar (mom's dog) who is SUPER athletic, and one morning I went to let Bartlett and Gunnar out in the morning, typically they chase the chipmunks into the woods. Gunnar usually leaps like a olympic gymnist off the deck and Bartlett usually barrels down the stairs. Well, we moved the stairs a few times to give us access to work. This particular morning Gunnar leaps off the deck, one move and Bartlett forgets where the stairs are and drops like a stone. It wasn't pretty. After these photos were taken, she refused to come up the new stairs.

It is looking almost complete. It is nice to have ONE space to enjoy.

New Deck

Okay, so sorry for the delay. The camera ran out of batteries and I didn't have time to buy new batteries. Yes, I didn't even have time to buy new batteries. That is how NUTS things have been. Actually, I had a deadline at work, and I was putting in some extra time to get it out. Now that it is the end of the month, things seem to be getting back to normal. I got new batteries and Erik and I have finished the deck. The decking is on. What took so long was this...we had to pre-drill each nail hole, since the decking was so hard. We went with the nails because they look better, than screws and since we are on a budget we couldn't do the blind fastenings we spec at work all the time! Anyway the photo above is the deck framing...
Look for other posts with the finished decking, more to come.
